Study in White

Study in White

"I used to be snow-white . . . but I drifted."
- Mae West

"Simple style is like white light. It is complex, but its complexity is not obvious."
- Anatole France

"The middle of the road is where the white line is, and that's the worst place to drive."
- Robert Frost

"Have you ever been at sea in a dense fog, when it seemed as if a tangible white darkness shut you in and the great ship, tense and anxious, groped her way toward the shore with plummet and sounding-line, and you waited with beating heart for something to happen? I was like that ship before my education began, only I was without compass or sounding line, and no way of knowing how near the harbor was. "Light! Give me light!" was the wordless cry of my soul, and the light of love shone on me in that very hour."
- Helen Keller

Top to bottom:  water lily, magnolia blossom, azalea - all reside at Clark Gardens Botanical Park.

Green

Green Anole, Bald Cypress, Bullfrog

"My doctor says I look like a million dollars - green and wrinkled."
- Red Skelton

"The next time it begins to rain ... lie down on your belly, nestle your chin into the grass, and get a frog's-eye view of how raindrops fall. The sight of hundreds of blades of grass bowing down and popping back up like piano keys strikes me as one of the merriest sights in the world."
- Malcolm Margolin

Pictured, top to bottom:

  • Green Anole Lizard.  Their dewlap (puffed-out throat) is used for territorial and courtship displays. This photo was taken at Chandor Gardens of Weatherford, Texas. We were walking between posing sites for a young lady I was photographing. Some things ya just have to stop for. Some stop to smell the roses; others stop to take lizard pictures.  Go figure.
  • The Cone Fruit of a Bald Cypress Tree. Isn't that just the coolest looking naturally-growing round thing you ever saw.  Or, is it just me? I see a mask-like face in the design of the top one - with a subtle heart-shaped outline.  What do you see?
  • Bullfrog. Prince charming incognito.  Smooch. Why aren't frogs ever princess-charmings in fairy tales?  The bald cypress cone and the frog are residents of Clark Gardens Botanical Park.

Wishing you a merry day - chin in the grass not required.

Channel Garden

The reward of a thing well done, is to have done it.
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Faith moves mountains, but you have to keep pushing while you are praying.
- Mason Cooley

It's pretty hard to be efficient without being obnoxious.
- Kin Hubbard

A picture of the channel gardens during the spring at Clark Gardens Botanical Park.  The title isn't a typo.  Really, I promise.  You knowwww... It's the sound fountains (and sprinklers) make when first started.

Support

Bill with colt sculpture by Kelly Graham.

"Man's best support is a very dear friend."
- Cicero

"Ride the horse in the direction that it's going."
- Werner Erhard

"It were not best that we should all think alike; it is difference of opinion that makes horseraces."
- S. L. Clemens

"A camel is a horse designed by a committee."
- Anonymous

My husband, Bill, leaning gently against a very realistic colt sculpture by Kelly Graham of Weatherford, Texas.  During the month of June, artists and live music were the focus of celebration at Clark Gardens located near Mineral Wells, Texas.
