"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in one pretty and well preserved piece, but to skid across the line broadside, thoroughly used up, shouting GERONIMO!"
- Hunter S. Thompson
"Flatter me, and I may not believe you. Criticize me, and I may not like you. Ignore me, and I may not forgive you. Encourage me, and I will not forget you."
- William Arthur Ward

Happy Valentine's Day (a bit early)!
A big, "Who Dat" congratulations to the New Orleans Saints for their Super Bowl victory. It's great to see how much the win means to the folks of New Orleans, the State of Louisiana, the gulf coast and Saints fans around the globe. It was a well played game by both teams - fun to watch.
Other than the many mature oak trees, the long-stemmed red rose bush (bloom pictured) is one of my favorite things of our home. Red roses are a great challenge for me to photograph, though it is a fun challenge. Geeze they smell nice.
Each year at least one of the resident squirrels seems to become fixated on something in particular. Sometimes it's an enjoyment of chewing the trim under the eve of the house, or dragging my favorite plastic 2 gallon bucket off the deck (repeatedly and not quietly), or popping the little yellow plastic flower covers off the hummingbird feeder to better drink the sugar water. One year, a furry little friend decided to taste the rose blooms. It didn't seem right to put a picture of the rose eating squirrel on the same page with a rose intended for Valentine's Day. Actually, it wouldn't be all that bad, but I couldn't locate the picture quickly. Squirrel pictures will have to come another day.
Take care all.
