Softness That Comforts the Heart

"On the occasion of every accident that befalls you...
inquire what power you have for turning it to use."
- Epictetus
"The most wonderful of all things in life is the discovery of another human being with whom one's relationship has a growing depth, beauty and joy as the years increase. This inner progressiveness of love between two human beings is a most marvelous thing; it cannot be found by looking for it or by passionately wishing for it. It is a sort of divine accident, and the most wonderful of all things in life."
- Hugh Walpole
I figured everyone was getting a bit tired of seeing pictures of bugs. So, no bugs this time. Yay.
This past week has been and interesting mix of both endings, and renewals. I've had the joyous opportunity to connect again with some dear friends. It's very heart-warming to catch-up and find out how they are doing and what they have been up to. Even quick visits are special and relished.
The little scarf above was accidently left behind. Some say there are no accidents. Just watch the animated movie, "Kung Fu Panda," and you too may believe there are no accidents. (smile)
The little scarf got lost along the way at Clark Gardens during a photo shoot. My friend said not to worry about it, so we continued on. We had covered a lot of territory and were close to finishing up. After we were all done and friends headed home, I made a brisk retrace of our journey and found the scarf kerflumped along the edge of a path. Right where we left it.
My step-daughter, Laura, brought home some zinnia seeds. We planted them this summer - at the v-e-r-y end of the time they were supposed to be planted - smack dab in the middle of July. Hot. Laura's seeds sprouted. Mine didn't, which meant I got to plant mine again - and I planted a BUNCH of 'em 'cause I was determined to have a least one of them grow. We watered and watered, trying to keep them alive. Long story short, we still have quite a few zinnias blooming. They make such beautiful red flowers.
On the drive home, the little scarf that had accidently been left behind simply beckoned to be photographed with a flower, and a red flower kept coming to mind. Hey, we have some of those!
So the picture above is a complete accident. Brought about by a series of completely unrelated, coincidental events and acts of time shared and determination. Don't ya just love it when a plan comes together.
