Different

The pink flower (a poppy) in the picture grew on a really tall stalk that looked a lot like that of an unwanted weed. If I saw one before it bloomed, in a flower bed of mine, I'd probably pull it up. There were hundreds of them purposely planted and thriving. Individually, they weren't especially pretty or striking as flowers go - and as mentioned, they looked incredibly weedy with big spiny leaves. But they were interesting and pleasant to view, and all together they made a beautiful sea of bright and unusual color. They were different.

    Hi Cris,

No need to appologize to me, although I know the appology was to everyone. I
    enjoyed seeing the photos again.

I meant to tell you the first time I saw the poppy that there is a memorable
color snap shot that was taken in the late 1930s or early 1940s and enlarged to
about 5x7 and framed that Sonny's and my Grandma Smitheal kept sitting on her
chest of drawers for many years. It is of our PawPaw and Grandma standing
behind a round flower bed that PawPaw always planted poppies in for Grandma.
She loved them. The one in your photo looks just like those in that bed. I'm
not sure where the picture is now, but it may be packed away with some of my
mother's things. If I ever run across it again, I'll be sure to share it with
you and Sonny. I just wonder if Sonny remembers that picture or remembers the
poppy bed. It was located in the side yard not far from the concrete minnow
    tank that PawPa...

    Hi Cris,

It's me again. I must have talked too much because "the rest of the
story" got cut off... so here it is.

I know Sonny remembers the concrete minnow tank because we used to swim in it
when the water was fresh and there were no minnows in it.

Anyhow, keep those photo blogs comming, even the repeats!

    Much love,

    Betty Roy :)
  • Cris  - Thank You
Thank you for the very kind note. I'll ask Dad about the minnow tank and the
poppy flower bed. I like listening to the stories.
